Terms of Service
Effective Date: 25th April 2026
Welcome to IDT Laws Practice ("the Firm", "we", "us", or "our"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our website, AI-powered legal assistant, publications, and related services (collectively, the "Services").
By accessing or using our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our Services.
1. About Us
IDT Laws Practice is a law firm specialising in Indian indirect tax matters, including Goods and Services Tax (GST), Customs, Central Excise, and Service Tax. Our Services include legal advisory, representation, publications, and informational tools made available through our website and applications.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age and legally capable of entering into a binding contract to use our Services. By using our Services, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements.
3. No Attorney–Client Relationship
Important: Your use of our website, AI legal assistant, publications, or other informational Services does not create an attorney–client relationship between you and the Firm.
An attorney–client relationship is established only when:
-
You and the Firm execute a written engagement letter or service agreement, and
-
The Firm has completed its conflict check and onboarding procedures
Until both conditions are met, no information you share with us is treated as privileged or confidential in the legal sense, and the Firm assumes no professional responsibility for your matter.
4. Informational Content Is Not Legal Advice
The content available through our Services — including articles, briefings, FAQs, AI-generated responses, summaries of legal provisions, and commentary — is provided for general informational purposes only. It is not legal advice and should not be relied upon as a substitute for advice from a qualified legal professional regarding your specific facts and circumstances.
Tax laws and their interpretation change frequently. While we make reasonable efforts to keep our content accurate and current, we make no warranty as to its completeness, timeliness, or applicability to any particular situation.
5. AI Legal Assistant
Our website and applications may include an AI-powered legal assistant ("AI Assistant") designed to help users explore Indian indirect tax topics. By using the AI Assistant, you acknowledge and agree that:
-
Responses are generated by an artificial intelligence system and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated
-
The AI Assistant does not exercise professional legal judgment
-
Citations, section numbers, case names, and procedural details should be independently verified before being relied upon
-
Conversations with the AI Assistant do not create an attorney–client relationship
-
You should not share confidential, sensitive, or privileged information through the AI Assistant
-
For any actual legal matter, you should consult a qualified tax professional or schedule a formal consultation with the Firm
We reserve the right to log, review, and use anonymised conversation data to improve the quality of the AI Assistant.

7. Intellectual Property
All content available through our Services — including articles, publications, logos, trademarks, software, the AI Assistant's design, and underlying technology — is the property of the Firm or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Services for your personal or internal business reference. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, publish, or create derivative works of any content without our prior written permission, except as expressly permitted by law.

Our Services may contain links to third-party websites, tools, or services. We do not control or endorse these third parties and are not responsible for their content, policies, or practices. Your use of any third-party service is at your own risk and subject to that third party's terms.
10. Fees and Payments
Access to general informational content on our website is free. Specific Services — including consultations, advisory engagements, and representation — are subject to separate fee arrangements set out in an engagement letter.
Where any paid feature is offered through the website or AI Assistant, applicable fees, payment terms, and refund policies will be disclosed at the point of purchase.
11. Disclaimers
The Services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Firm disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of viruses or other harmful components. We do not warrant that any information provided through the Services — including AI-generated responses — is accurate, complete, or suitable for your specific situation.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Firm and its partners, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Services — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
In no event shall our total cumulative liability arising out of these Terms or your use of the Services exceed the fees actually paid by you to the Firm in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or INR 10,000, whichever is lower — except for matters covered under a separate engagement letter, which shall be governed by that engagement letter.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Firm and its partners, employees, and affiliates from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of:
-
Your use of the Services in breach of these Terms
-
Your violation of any applicable law or third-party right
-
Any User Submission you make through the Services
14. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services at any time, with or without notice, for any reason — including breach of these Terms. Upon termination, all provisions that by their nature should survive (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and dispute resolution) shall continue to apply.
15. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Subject to the dispute resolution clause below, the courts at [insert city, e.g., New Delhi] shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Services.
16. Dispute Resolution
Any dispute, controversy, or claim arising out of or relating to these Terms shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If unresolved within thirty (30) days, the dispute shall be referred to arbitration under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, before a sole arbitrator appointed by mutual agreement. The seat of arbitration shall be [insert city], and the proceedings shall be conducted in English.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The most current version will always be posted on our website, with the effective date indicated. Your continued use of the Services after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
18. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
19. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any engagement letter you may have signed with the Firm, constitute the entire agreement between you and the Firm regarding the Services and supersede any prior agreements on the same subject.
